Bucuti and Tara Beach Resort, Aruba 2018 - Our 7th Anniversary

We took the northern coast road from the lighthouse heading eastbound. The staff have been great and could not have done more for us, except BB does not encourage children, which is one of the primary reasons we chose to stay - no kids. The staff at the hotel are for the most part friendly and attentive.{/INSERTKEYS}{/PARAGRAPH} We didn't. The Hyatt has more pools, slides, a casino, etc, but their beach isn't nearly as nice. We wanted to get away to a beautiful beach and lay in the sun and quiet for a week. The concierge forgot to leave us confirmation of a restaurant reservation one evening, and the front desk simply shrugged their shoulders and sent me to the concierge in a different wing. We then moved to the Garden Rooms ground floor opening onto the lawn. Great place, staff knowledgeable and friendly and the chef is very skilled. It was okay at best but I would not eat there again. Plus, I would rather have that than it moldy in there. The water is crystal clear and warm. We asked to be moved but the request fell on deaf ears. I finally settled on Aruba and this particular hotel because of its great reviews and its website looked promising. She seemed ignorant and unconcerned about the fact that this would not resolve the She seemed ignorant and unconcerned about the fact that this would not resolve the noise problem. For all of you going soon, enjoy! We stayed at the Bucuti for our honeymoon in August and we loved it! Baby Beach was best for snorkelling but watch out for the tidal outflow from the bay! Based on reviews, we had thought this resort was in an isolated place from other resorts - but it feels like everything is on top of each other, despite being in the "low-rise" area. For those of you who want to bring your kids to Aruba, all of the high-rise hotels have great pools, kids-clubs and baby-sitting services. However, if you are looking for some place that has tons to do and a lot of action and nightlife, you should stay somewhere else because this place is so quiet you hardly know anyone else is there. I was just a tad bit dissapointed when we checked in. All in all, a great, relaxing holiday on "one happy island". Couldn't have asked for a better room. Insurance-voiding if anything goes wrong but not challenging. The web site had announced a "remodeling" project of the Bucuti Wing from July - November The site explicitly noted that "This is not a construction project Imagine our surprise when we checked in and found a dusty hall with paint fumes, and loud hammering, drilling, and sawing going on directly across the hall every day between 9 and 6. Guess what we had next door - it walked and it wailed and cried at 5 in the morning. On some days, the shower ran so hot that your skin was burning felt just great after an entire day in the sun. The only thing that was not up to par with the rest of the hotel was the restaurant. The room was 'tired' but a refurb is bringing them up to Tara standards in slow time. However, our favorite places we ate at were El Gaucho for the food and Flying Fishbone sooo romantic! And the Bucuti is a very nice place to stay, especially for a low rise. The rooms in the Tara Suites also had a humidifier going that was somewhat loud, but to be perfectly honest, I barely noticed it. It was off-road but its not desparately challenging. The beach is absolutely the best beach on the island and you can't even compare the high rise beach palm beach to this beach eagle beach. I would definitely request the first floor if you can. The drinks came fast, but the food was slow; however, when you are on vacation and supposed to be relaxing, who cares about the time, right? Our first night was in one of the Tara Suites and they look very chic and comfortable. While most staff were nice enough, service was slow and spotty. It is really a great place for honeymooners, as there mostly couples, hardly any children, and it is quiet and romantic. A honeymoon gift was waiting in our room along with a bottle of champagne. And we did not even have the benefit of a refurbished room. The Island 4x4 Safaris use it throughout the day. Theres plenty of pizza and fast food if you're counting the pennies. It all essentially fell on "deaf ears" as noted in other reviews. The Hyatt was also a lot busier and had a lot of kids running around. I am a big fan of trip advisor and use it quite often when planning any vacation. And the resort was rather disappointing with the construction and the mediocre customer service. The beach at the Bucuti can not be beat - huge and beautiful. All in all, we loved the Bucuti Beach Resort and would not hesitate to return! The Natural Bridge had collapsed into the sea 2 days before we arrived!! We booked the honeymoon package thru the resort which included champagne, a dinner on a beach, a Tara Beach suite, and a sunset sail. And say hi to Flora and Fauna the resorts iguana's! The suite was very clean and nice! Food wise At each we had additional drinks bottles of wine, etc. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, and always available when we needed something. The beach is idyllic and the weather was hot and sunny although it was windy at times. The manager spent a lot of time looking at the reservations and said there were some rooms right next to vs. We prefer quieter spots with less development and that don't have such a touristy feel. Well worth the time it took to get here. In all, we found the dining expensive for the quality we wanted. Come on Bucuti - make it "no kids". The food is okay The 2nd night we did the Pirates Nest Bucuti's resturant meal on the beach. The breakfast is good however, and the lunch is good for what they are serving, but I would not recommend dinner there when there are so many great restaurants on the island Flying Fishbone and Sunset Grille were our favorites. The food was good just a little plain , but the service was great. It was great to just get up and walk out onto the beach in the morning. We spent our honeymoon the week of August 13th at Bucuti. And, at one point, we were scolded for not putting away our lounge chairs after 7pm - had we known this was a requirement, we would have done so, but felt like small children being reprimanded when the attendant told us that he wanted to go home but couldn't because he had to put away our beach chairs And, we agree with many of the other reviews that the Pirate's Nest restaurant is surprisingly mediocre for a resort like Bucuti think TGI Fridays at the Ritz If you still want to go to Aruba, Bucuti seems like it'd be one of the nicer places to stay - clean beach, soft sand, clear water. Favourites for us were: Gasparito - Aruban local cusine. Dress smart and make a night of it. Great quality and fairly priced. It sounded like a mack truck. Our room was on the first floor and the beach was right outside our back door. But in general, the island is overdeveloped. {PARAGRAPH}{INSERTKEYS}Many of the reviews do not note that there are two different wings at this resort - the Bucuti Wing and the Tara Suites - and the quality seems to be worlds apart. When we asked to be moved, we had to follow up 3 times with the front desk, and only after I flagged down the manager, did she attend to my complaint. Everything sort of took on the same flavor and most everything was overcooked. Chez Matilde - Quality French cusine and service. We spent most of our day at the beach, where you have a red flag and when you put it up a server will come take your food and drink orders. Yes, they are slow, but I don't understand how anyone can complain about slow service in the Caribbean - it's like that everywhere and you just have to expect it. Even the happy hour at the hotel is hardly ever that crowded. It seemed very selfish to us that people should bring children to a hotel that outwardly does not encourage kids seeing as most who come to BB do so to A get married, B come on their honeymoon or C want to get away from kids and everyday noise! Aqua Grill - North American style fish restaurant. The concierge booked all of our dinner reservations and excursions without any problems. The pool leaves a lot to be desired but with the beach right there, we didn't really mind. The view from the balcony was gorgeous!! They said that is how the aruba plumbing system works. Our friends who recommended the resort stayed at the Tara Suites, but since they weren't available, and based on other reviews, we went ahead and booked a garden room in the Bucuti Wing. Our waiter took many pictures of us and was very nice. We stayed in the Tara Suites which are very nice and very clean. As soon as we arrived, we were offered champagne and shown to our room.
